Delicious Meatball recipe the family will love



800g beef mince


40g diced white bread- crust removed

60mls milk

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 egg- whisked

1 onion- finely diced

2 cloves garlic- crushed


ΒΌ cup Rozas gourmet basil pesto


Salt and pepper

Tomato Sauce


2x 400g tin whole tomatoes- crushed

1 tbsp olive oil

2 garlic cloves- crushed

250 mls chicken stock

2 Tsp Italian herbs

Salt and pepper

step by step recipe

Combine bread and milk in a small bowl, set aside till milk is absorbed.

In a large mixing bowl combine bread mixture, cooled onion, beef mince, egg and pesto. Season mixture with salt and pepper, and mix well.

Using wet hands, measure heaped tbsp and lightly form into meatballs.

Add the remaining oil into the frying pan over medium heat, add the meatball and cook turning 6-7 minutes until brown all over, remove from pan.

To make the sauce. Add olive oil and garlic, cook for 30 seconds, then add hand crushed tin tomatoes, stock and Italian herbs. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. To a simmer. Return the meatball to the sauce and cook for 20 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has reduced and thickened.

Serve with your favourite paste, parmesan cheese and dollop of Rozas basil pesto.
